Portions of a Letter from Clara Gertrude Naff to her cousin, Kittie Shell,
January 18, 1889
Note Clara's references to "Henry." We believe this is her younger brother, Henry Hudson Naff, b. 1-Dec-1887 and that Clara Gertrude and Henry Hudson are the children of William Crawford Naff.

My Dear Cousin
I thought I would attempt to answer your kind letter which I recei ed in due time and I was very glad to hear from you. I would have answered your letter sooner but have not had time. Mama was scolding me when she heard from Aunt-Delia [Cordelia] and found out I had not answered your letter. I will try to answer your letter sooner next time.
...Henry is just as mean as ever I know you would like to see him, we had a Turkey Christmas and he called it a Dutcher(?). Papa has learned him little speaches, he has a little chicken and he calls it a bird. We are all well I hope you are the same. I will have to close you must write soon. Love from all to all
